INITIAL PROJECT PLANNING
Start with the end in mind. Pretest with samples of Zodia® using the intended design, inks, coating or varnish, adhesives, binding methods and finishing techniques. Discuss the project with suppliers and ask for their recommended products.
Confirm the compatibility of the fountain solution making sure that it is compatible for printing oxidizing inks on a synthetic substrate.
Consider the grain direction for finishing operations such as folding, scoring and perforating.
Allow for at least 24 hours to acclimate to pressroom conditions before unwrapping.
Plan for at least 24 hours of dry time between printing the first and second side on two-sided jobs.
ESTIMATING
The inks, varnish, coating and adhesives required for use with Zodia® may cost more than what are used with paper or other substrates.
Blankets should be washed every 2000 sheets to remove paper dust.
Two-sided printing jobs should be backed up 24-48 hours.
Press speed should not exceed 7000 impressions per hour.
